Carbon-fibre wonder bike will be in the hands of buyers by the end of 2017

More HP4 pictures

This year’s EICMA show wasn’t packed with surprises but one bike which nobody was expecting to see was BMW’s HP4 Race (click here for original story).

While the prototype shown in Milan isn’t wholly representative of the finished machines that will be sold at vast expense to a handful of lucky customers, its all-carbon construction is confirmed.

At the moment BMW is cagey about the plans for the production model. Will it be a track-only bike? Could it be road-legal? How many will be made? All these questions remain unanswered.

Given Ducati’s newly-released and road-legal 1299 Superleggera has now set a bar for carbon-framed, crazy-expensive superbikes, BMW must make sure the HP4 Race doesn’t fall short.

So as we while away the time until a more finished version of the bike is released, and BMW announces more detailed specifications, here are more pictures of the concept version.
