BMW has added a Connectivity option to its 2018 R 1200 GS and GS Adventure models that replaces the normal dash with a full colour TFT screen.
The Connectivity option combines all the usual dashboard information with the ability to display a huge range of additional information. It also adds new abilities to tie in with the rider’s smartphone.
Combined with a smartphone and a helmet equipped with BMW’s communication system it displays media playback and phone functions on the display. There’s no need for an additional app and the bar controls will allow navigation through music tracks and phone contacts.
The system also operates as a turn-by-turn navigation system via the free BMW Motorrad Connected app. The app can also record routes and display ride statistics. It’s not as advanced as the Motorrad Navigator but means there’s no extra kit to carry.
The TFT also shows ride information via the ‘On-Board Computer PRO’ which gives a visual display of things like tyre pressures.
