BMW has revealed its new Spezial options range as part of the firm’s first 2018 offerings.
The Spezial program starts next month, August 2017, and includes a range of new and existing options. The parts can be ordered as special equipment fitted ex-works on new bikes, or some can be ordered from dealers to be retrofitted to existing bikes.
So while BMW is dressing it up as something new, the new scheme is basically the same as the way manufacturer options have always been offered.
Initially, the scheme covers BMW’s Heritage and Tour ranges. Heritage means the R nineT and its derivatives – the Pure, Scrambler, Racer and Urban GS. Tour includes the R 1200 RT, K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL and K 1600 B.
Here’s how the ex-works packages break down:
The R nineT can be had in special paint schemes – black metallic with number grahics or blue metallic/aluminium. All the R nineT derivatives can also come with ‘Option 719’ packages. These are milled aluminium bolt-on parts in ‘classic’, ‘storm’ or ‘club sport’ form. That translates to ‘bare aluminium’, ‘grey’ or ‘black with gold edges.’
The R 1200 RT, K1600 GT and K 1600 GTL are offered with ‘Option 719’ paints in blue or grey, with hand-painted pinstripes under the lacquer and an iridescent finish. There’s also an ‘Option 719’ seat in saddle brown with embossed quilting, and ‘Option 719’ forged alloy wheels.
