Yamaha’s XSR900 Abarth (click here for original story) might be a largely cosmetic exercise but it’s a good-looking machine. If you want one, the registration process for the first 95 of the limited-edition machines starts tomorrow.
To get your name down, get onto the www.xsr900-abarth.eu website at 1700 hours CET on January 17 to show your interest.
Buyers of those first 95 bikes will get a ‘Yamaha VIP Abarth Experience’ invitation as well as the bike itself. That ticket will give them and a companion access to an ‘Abarth Day’ event at a race track. These events will be scheduled between May 1 and June 16 at tracks in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria and the UK. At them, you’ll be able to drive a selection of Abarth vehicles and to be driven around the track by a professional racing driver.
The first 95 owners will also be invited to visit Abarth’s Turin headquarters at any time during 2017 by prior appointment.
Of course, you have to buy the bike to get all this. The XSR900 Abarth is an updated XSR900, using the same 850cc triple as the stock model. However, it gains an Akrapovic exhaust with titanium muffler, special paint and a carbon nose, seat cowl and front fender. There’s also a suede seat with red stitching, clip-on bars and a new licence plate holder.
