Triumph only revealed the 2017 Street Triple last month but the bikes are due in dealers soon and the firm has now revealed their prices.

The new 765cc triples replace the previous 675cc versions, and journalists are getting the chance to test them right now. What’s clear is that the new bikes are lighter and more powerful than their predecessors.

The base model is the 2017 Street Triple S, which will cost exactly £8000 in the UK.

Step up to the higher-specification Street Triple R and you’ll have to find £8900 for the privilege. The low seat version of the R, which actually has reduced suspension height rather than simply a new seat pad, will cost the same.

On either the S or R models, it’s an extra £125 if you want metallic paint.

At the top of the range there’s the new RS version of the 2017 Street Triple. It’s set to cost £9900 in the UK. Meanwhile, there’s also a new A2 licence version of the machine at £7700. Don’t get ideas of buying the A2 model and derestricting it, though. It uses a dedicated 660cc version of the engine, originally developed for the Australian market where it was offered on the previous-generation Street Triple to meet that country’s LAMS restrictions.

Since the bike wasn’t launched until this year, it missed the chance at a major show debut. As a result it’s set to get an unveiling at the MCN London Motorcycle Show at ExCel on February 17-19.

Triumph Motorcycles’ UK & Ireland marketing manager, Martin Hough, said: “Since its launch in 2007, the Street Triple range has been a passion point for Triumph fans worldwide. The feedback on the new models has been incredible and we’re looking forward to seeing what our many fans think of the range when it arrives in UK dealers this year. To register interest in a test ride and find out more about availability, please contact your local Triumph dealer.”
