Triumph is on the verge of replacing its existing 675cc Street Triple with a larger-capacity machine believed to be called the Street Triple 765.
If the name is an accurate representation of its engine capacity, it represents a 90cc increase and should provide a modest performance boost. In a secret owner survey carried out last year, Triumph revealed that the next Street Twin would be ‘above 750cc’ and have 110bhp in its base form – up from 106bhp for the current model. The Street Triple R, which at the moment has the same power as the base model, will increase to around 115bhp.
Recently, some internet forum users claim to have been shown the new bike at a customer clinic, at which they say the Street Triple 765 name was revealed. As well as confirming the power increases for the base model and the ‘R’ version, they were shown an ‘RS’ model, which again matches the information from last year’s survey. The survey said that the RS would make 125bhp, while the customers shown the bike last week were told it is slightly less powerful with around 117bhp. It also has Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes instead of the R’s Showa and Nissin kit. The base bike uses Kayaba suspension.
Those at the customer clinic weren’t shown the fourth model that was mentioned in last year’s survey. Called the Street Triple RT, it’s a sports-touring machine that combines the RS-spec engine with R-spec Showa suspension, and features a windscreen as standard, with the option of a half-fairing.
