Boost available for all Testastretta-powered Bimotas

Bimota’s bolt-on supercharger

Written by Ben Purvis

Superchargers have been given a new level of credibility by Kawasaki’s adoption of the technology and Bimota has revealed the bolt-on supercharger kit that it’s offering for its existing range of Ducati-engined machines.

Designed to boost torque rather than peak power, giving around a 20% increase, the system is neatly designed to complement the bikes it can be fitted to. The supercharger itself snuggles into the V of the engine and is driven by an extra belt with covers neatly designed to match the existing ones on the Ducati engine.

The idea actually dates back to before Kawasaki launched the H2 – it was in 2012 that Bimota revealed the DB11 VLX with a Sprintex supercharger fitted, and the new kit is a development of that design, but has clearly been developed considerably in the meantime.

Bimota’s new pictures also reveal the firm’s optional carbon-fibre frame, which is again designed for any of its current Ducati engine machines and replaces the tubular steel sections with fabulous-looking, lightweight carbon tubes.
