MV Agusta has belatedly revealed updates that bring its F3 675, F3 800 and Dragster 800 RR into line with Euro4 emissions regulations.

MV Dragster 800 RR Euro4The firm revamped the Brutale 800 to meet Euro4 regulations last year, but it uses a less powerful version of the three-cylinder engine. MV had to find other solutions to make the F3 and Brutale hit the latest restrictions without sacrificing too much performance.

What’s new?

The changes manage to cut exhaust emissions by 50% and reduce noise by 48%. Power is down by less than 3% on the most powerful version, the F3 800. Where the old model made 148hp, the new one achieves 144hp. The F3 675 and Dragster 800 RR power levels – 128hp and 140hp respectively – are unchanged.

MV F3 Euro4MV has added a new balance shaft with a different tooth pitch to reduce noise and friction. It’s done the same to the oil and water pump drives and the primary gearing. New intake camshafts, bigger intake valves, twin intake valve springs and new valve guides complete the head changes. There’s also a new gear shift, revised clutch operation, new exhaust manifold and larger silencers.

On the electronics side, there’s an upgraded MVICS electronics set-up and the mandatory OBD is added. Cosmetically, new protective engine covers that also help cut noise levels.
