We revealed last year that Honda’s City Adventure concept bike was to be put into production and now it turns out that the final version will be far closer to the concept than we had expected.
The bike, which will go under the name ‘ADV’ when it reaches showrooms, is based on the firm’s NC750 chassis and engine. The same underpinnings are already used on the Integra scooter as well as the NM4 Vultus and all the NC750-badged models. With 51bhp, the parallel twin engine is tuned for economy rather than performance and the NC basis means the ADV is likely to be heavy at around 240kg.
Given the fact it’s derived from the NC chassis, we had originally expected the City Adventure concept bike’s upside-down forks and aluminium swingarm to be dropped in production form in favour of the same suspension parts already used on the NC750X, with a steel swingarm and conventional forks. However, prototypes spotted on test in Rome – where Honda appears to have allowed a select group of potential customers ride the bike – show that the same suspension as the concept has been kept for production.
That suggests the ADV will be the most expensive NC-derived model when it reaches showrooms next year. The firm’s DCT gearbox is expected to be standard, adding to the scooter-style ease of use.
