Davis Fisher capped the 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season with a razor-thin victory at the Caterpillar Springfield Mile II, delivering his second career Mission AFT SuperTwins win in a dramatic season finale. The Rackley Racing rider held off a late charge to beat Tom Drane by just 0.009 seconds at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

The deciding moments unfolded over the closing laps as Fisher, aboard the No. 67 Rackley Racing/Bob Lanphere’s BMC Racing KTM 790 Duke, and wildcard Tom Drane (No. 59 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07) traded the lead across the back half of the race. Fisher knew the final turn would be decisive and managed to keep Drane behind entering Turn 3 on the last lap.

When the checkered flag fell, Fisher crossed a mere 0.009 seconds ahead. He acknowledged the effort of his crew and supporters, including longtime sponsor Bob Lanphere, saying Drane “put up a heck of a fight” and expressing gratitude to the team for delivering the KTM to the top step.

Podium and other top finishers

Trent Lowe, the 2025 Springfield winner, completed the podium in third on the No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods Honda CB750 Hornet, finishing 0.057 seconds behind Fisher.

Champion Dallas Daniels (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07) and title contenders Briar Bauman (No. 3 Super.com/RWR/Rocket Doctor Harley-Davidson XG750R) and Kody Kopp (No. 12 Latus Motors Racing Harley-Davidson XG750R) were prominent in the race narrative but did not occupy the podium. Bauman ran near the front for much of the event before an apparent mechanical problem forced him out with just over four minutes remaining.

Daniels fell away from the lead group before half-distance and at one point trailed by almost two seconds. He staged a late recovery as the leaders battled, moving up to fourth on the final lap. Kopp finished fifth, a result that secured him second place in the Grand National Championship standings despite the on-track setback.

Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 Moto Anatomy X Powered by Royal Enfield 650) rode to sixth, while Declan Bender (No. 70 Memphis Shades/Vinson Construction Yamaha MT-07) prevailed in a close all-Yamaha tussle for seventh. Hunter Bauer (No. 24 G&G Racing Yamaha MT-07) and Chad Cose (No. 49 PRO Roofing/Parker Racing Yamaha MT-07) followed, and Jeffrey Carver Jr. (No. 123 Mission Foods/Roof Systems Harley-Davidson XG750R) returned to the Springfield Mile with a popular top-ten finish.

Championship wrap-up

Daniels finished the season as Grand National Champion with 309 points. Rookie Kody Kopp secured second overall with 274 points, narrowly edging Briar Bauman, who closed at 270. Fisher ended the year fourth in the standings with 216 points; Lowe was fifth at 178.

KICKER AFT Singles delivered a chaotic finale

The KICKER AFT Singles main event produced one of the season’s wildest finishes. A pack of a dozen riders exchanged the lead repeatedly during the closing stages, and on the final lap Logan Eisenhard (No. 66 Mark Tepper Racing/Pags Powersports KTM 450 SX-F) became tangled with Jordan Beaulac (No. 156 Picotte Motosport/Dofralex GASGAS MC 450F), sending both into the air fence and prompting a red flag.

At the moment the red flag was shown, Chase Saathoff (No. 88 1st Impressions Race Team Husqvarna FC450) had taken the white flag by a hair—official timing credited him with the win when results were finalized. Saathoff called the victory “great” and expressed gratitude to his team, while acknowledging the unusual ending.

Kage Tadman (No. 28 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R) was credited with second, and Tom Drane officially took third, ending a dominant run at the Mile; his seven-race winning streak at that event came to an abrupt close. Trevor Brunner (No. 21 JMC Motorsports/Fairway GMC KTM 450 SX-F) and Jared Lowe (No. 63 Big R Racing/Vinson Construction Honda CRF450R) completed the top five.

Drane nevertheless secured a record-breaking season in the class, finishing with nine wins and claiming a second consecutive KICKER AFT Singles title with 303 points. Saathoff ended the season second in the standings at 257 points, and Tadman was third with 226.
