Tiny British firm CCM has seen some spectacular success with its Spitfire models and is adding a third version – the Spitfire Café Racer – to the line-up.
The bike comes on the heels of the original, flat-track-style Spitfire and Spitfire Scrambler revealed earlier this year. CCM built 150 examples of the original, which sold out fast. The Scrambler is being made in a limited run of 250, and the new Spitfire Café Racer will also be restricted to 250 machines.
Based around the same steel tube frame and Husqvarna-derived 600cc single as the other Spitfire models, it gains the usual café racer cues. That means clip-on bars, rearsets and a cowled seat. A side-exiting, under-engine exhaust is depicted in the mock-up images of the bike, and appears to have minimal silencing.
There a claimed 55bhp from the engine. It dates back to the old Husqvarna 630 models and which remains in production by SWM, which bought rights to it when KTM boss Stefan Pierer bought Husky from BMW. Given that the new Spitfire Café Racer only weighs a claimed 125kg dry, that 55bhp should be plenty.
Like the Scrambler, the Spitfire Café Racer will cost £8995 plus £279 on-the-road charges for a total of £9274 in the UK.
The Spitfire Café Racer will be officially unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 29th June to 2nd July, where all the derivatives will be demonstrated on the famous driveway course.
