New, more adventurous version of the Africa Twin coming

Africa Twin Adventure Sports Concept planned

This Saturday (19 March) Honda plans to unveil a new concept bike showing how a more extreme version of the Africa Twin could look.

The firm has announced the bike as part of the preview to its display at the Osaka Motorcycle Show (19-21 March) and Tokyo Motorcycle Show (25-27 March).

At the moment, there’s little detail on how the Adventure Sports Concept will differ from the standard Africa Twin. Honda’s statement simply says that it will take the “adventurous spirit of its base, the CRF1000L Africa Twin, to a new level.”

Reading between the lines, that line appears to suggest that it will be a version that’s even more capable of serious off-road, long-distance riding. Given that the firm showed the CRF250 Rally concept a year ago, inspired by the HRC-made CRF450 Rally that is used on events like the Dakar Rally, it makes sense that the Adventure Sports Concept will be similarly influenced by the rallye-raid machine.
