Kawasaki has revealed another 2018-spec bike in the form of next year’s Z900. As with most of the 2018 machines revealed so far this year, new colours are the only changes.
The addition of a bright red version is the main news. Officially called ‘Candy Persimmon Red with Metallic Spark Black’, the bike has a black frame and graphics with red tape on the wheel rims.
The red is one of four 2018 colour options. More subtle is the ‘Flat Ebony with Metallic Spark Black’ replacing the previous metallic black option. There’s also a Candy Lime Green version, as this year but with new graphics. The existing Pearl Mystic Grey version also stays on sale next year.
Morihiro Ikoma, Director of Kawasaki Motors Europe, said: “The Z900 represents that most elusive of combinations, a great all-round Refined Raw motorcycle package. Sitting centrally in the Z range, the Z900 is an important bike for Kawasaki. With this new colour option it will certainly stay front-of-mind for buyers in this popular market sector.”
The 2018 spec bike will go on sale in October.
Z900 R coming too?
If Japanese sources are correct, Kawasaki will also launch a new Z900R model for 2018. Kawasaki has certainly trademarked the name. The Z900R will use the same chassis and engine but with new retro, Z1R-inspired styling. If that’s the case it will rival Yamaha’s MT-09-based XSR900.
