Shoei’s updated entry-level full-face helmet, the RF-SR2, keeps the same sticker price while bringing tangible refinements that riders will notice on the road. The changes focus on ventilation, stability and fit, positioning the RF-SR2 as Shoei’s accessible option for riders who want premium-brand features without paying top-tier prices.
Improved airflow and smoother stability
The most prominent enhancements are to the helmet’s ventilation. Shoei reports measurable increases across the intake and exhaust ports that collectively boost airflow and rider comfort.

- Upper front vents: +21%
- Lower front vent: +43%
- Rear exhaust: +82%
Alongside those figures, the rear exhaust is now concealed behind a redesigned spoiler intended to improve stability at speed. The front vents use a sliding mechanism that opens and closes easily with gloves on, and textured ridges make the controls simpler to locate without looking down.
Fit, liners and sizing options
Shoei expands fit precision by offering four distinct shell sizes. That’s more generous sizing than many budget helmets and helps reduce unwanted material around the head.

Shell distribution is: XS and S share one shell; M and L each have their own shells; and XL and 2XL share a larger shell. The interior padding is removable, washable and made from a moisture-wicking fabric, though Shoei’s more expensive models use higher-grade materials. Riders can fine-tune fit with multiple cheek-pad options, and the helmet is compatible with Shoei’s Personal Fitting System for professional pad adjustments at certified dealers.
Shield system and everyday usability
The RF-SR2 ships with Shoei’s CWR-1 face shield and an included Pinlock insert, giving good optical clarity and anti-fog protection out of the box. The helmet uses Shoei’s quick-release QR-E base-plate system, which significantly speeds up shield swaps—a practical benefit for riders who switch between clear and tinted shields as daylight changes.
When raised, the shield’s first detent holds firmly while allowing enough airflow to limit fogging during slow-speed riding. Owners also gain access to a wide range of aftermarket shield options because the RF-SR2 shares the established CWR-1 interface.
Color choices, price and where it sits in Shoei’s range
The RF-SR2 is offered in six solid finishes: white, matte blue metallic, basalt gray, matte deep gray, matte black and black. The palette is intentionally restrained compared with Shoei’s higher-end, more graphic-driven models.
Priced at $499, the RF-SR2 is the most affordable full-face helmet in Shoei’s current lineup. That places it roughly $300 below the brand’s other full-face offerings, making it the practical entry point for riders who want Shoei engineering at a lower cost.
Who this helmet is for
The RF-SR2 targets riders who value build quality and functional upgrades but do not require the premium materials or paint options of Shoei’s flagship models. With improved ventilation, easier-to-use controls and a fit system that can be tailored, it offers a credible balance of performance and price for everyday use.
