Around the World in 80 Days? Not quite, but Urs ‘Grizzly’ Pedraita has set a new world circumnavigation record of in 119 days and 21 hours on a Victory Cross Country Tour.

In fact, that record includes the time taken to ship the bike between continents. In terms of actual riding, Pedriata did it in 72 days, 13 hours, well under the famous 80-day limit of Jules Verne’s book.5783bc2ded13d_5

Unlike some other records, the new one involved crossing each of the five continents via their longest axis, resulting in a total riding distance of 47,390 miles (76,277km). In terms of ‘riding time’, the new record of 72 days, 13 hours is 47 days an d 13 hours shorter than the previous record, standing at 120 days and 2 hours. Even including all the time taken to fly or ship the bike across various seas, the new time is a few hours faster than the previous record was in riding time alone.

From Perth he flew to Cape Town, South Africa and took 13 days and 23 hours for a 7,509-mile journey north to Cairo, Egypt.5783bc7744b7e_7

Nate Secor, Marketing Manager for Victory Motorcycles, said: “This record is a testament to the durability, capability and dependability of our Cross Country Touring platform. Victory Touring owners love to roll back the miles. If you asked them, they’d likely say there’s a little bit of Grizzly in each of them when they’re covering ground during their own journeys.”
