Moto Morini has no deal with Chinese firm Shineray, the parent of the SWM brand, to supply or develop engines.
The announcement comes after Shineray revealed intentions to create a new range of V-twin engines. Images of an SWM-branded V-twin appeared in the Chinese press; it appeared all but identical to Morini’s Bialbero 1200 CorsaCorta.
Morini confirmed that SWM bought a Bialbero 1200 CorsaCorta engine but says there’s no arrangement for further engines to be supplied.
In a statement, Moto Morini said:
Moto Morini officially and strongly denies any kind of news published in the press concerning an agreement with Chinese Shineray or SWM for the supply of our Bialbero 1200 CorsaCorta engine. Neither is there a joint development of the two-cylinder, cited by some newspapers, nor any collaboration for the supply of the same. The exclusive ownership of the Bialbero 1200 CorsaCorta engine is Moto Morini who designed and updated it over the years, up to the latest evolution to the Euro 4 standard.
Although Moto Morini is attentive to the market and to possible collaborations, it has already instructed its lawyers to protect the intellectual property of the company, assess any damage that may arise from these statements without any basis and take any and all necessary action against those who disseminated them in complete decisional autonomy.
