McAMS Yamaha has confirmed that Ben Currie and Harry Truelove will remain with the team for the 2027 British Supersport Championship, extending the partnership that launched this season with Yamaha’s new R9. The signings lock in continuity as the squad builds on a debut year that already delivered multiple podiums and a first UK victory for the machine.

Contracts secured, momentum maintained

Both riders have signed new agreements to race the Yamaha R9 for McAMS Yamaha next season. The decision keeps a stable line-up in place as the team seeks to develop the bike’s competitiveness further in the Supersport class.

R9’s breakthrough season

The R9 made an immediate impact after McAMS Yamaha entered Supersport this year. Ben Currie claimed the model’s first UK win in the third race at Donington Park and added another victory at Knockhill. He also stood on the podium on four other occasions.

Currie was a contender in the title fight for part of the campaign but missed four races following a crash during FP2 at Oulton Park. He credited the team’s support during his recovery and said the collective experience with the R9 has given him confidence to aim for the championship next year.

Consistent performances from Truelove

Harry Truelove sits sixth in the standings and has reached the podium three times this season. He has been a regular presence in the top six, and a home-podium at Cadwell Park provided a notable boost to his confidence.

Truelove called the year a step forward for both rider and machine, and said that locking in his 2027 plans allows the team to target further gains during the remaining rounds and into next season.

Team structure unchanged in Superbike

McAMS Yamaha will also keep its British Superbike entry intact for 2027, with 2022 champion Bradley Ray continuing aboard the R1. Long-standing partner McAMS will remain the team’s title sponsor across both classes.

Leadership view

Team principal Steve Rodgers highlighted the progress made with a model that was new to the series at the start of the year, noting the pair have delivered a strong return in their first season together. He pointed to a combined total of nine podiums as evidence of the riders’ commitment and the garage’s work to refine the package.

Rodgers also praised Currie’s recovery after injury and Truelove’s steady gains in confidence, saying the team has a solid platform to build on for 2027.
