399cc entry-level Scrambler launched

Ducati Scrambler Sixty2

It’s no surprise to see that Ducati has revealed a smaller derivative of its Scrambler for 2016 to give a cheaper way into owning one of the firm’s models.

At 399cc the Sixty2’s engine is less than half the size of the stock Scrambler’s 803cc V-twin, but from the outside you’d be hard pushed to tell.

On board, with only 41bhp at your disposal, the shrunken size may be a little clearer. Fortunately the bike’s dry weight is a light 167kg, which should help offset the lack of power.

While looking at the engine gives little clue to its smaller capacity, there are ways to tell the Sixty2 from the larger Scrambler. The forks are now Showa 41m right-way-up units instead of upside-down units, while the silencer cover is black and the swingarm is now tubular steel rather than cast aluminium to save costs.
