IT might only be a restyled derivative of the existing DB8 but Bimota’s new Impeto lives up to all the clichés about the Italian firm’s ability to serve up the most stunning-looking bikes on the market.
Like the DB8 it’s derived from, the Impeto uses Ducati’s Testastretta 11° in Diavel tune, making 162bhp and mounted in chassis that combines aluminium plates with steel trellis sections and carries drool-worthy Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes.
The firm claims the bike is up to date when it comes to traction control and fly-by-wire technology.
But spectacular though the Impeto is, it’s really just a starting point for adding more toys. Options include replacing the steel trellis frame parts with carbon fibre tubes and even a supercharger kit, developed in-house by Bimota and suitable for any of its Testastretta-powered bikes, which boosts torque by 20%.
