Will it be third time lucky for efforts to sell the remains of EBR?

Another Erik Buell Racing auction

The saga of Erik Buell Racing is still rolling more than eight months on from the announcement that the East Troy firm had entered receivership and the courts have now ordered a third attempt at auctioning its assets.

Although EBR appeared to be sold at its first auction attempt back in August last year, when Altantic Metals Group LLC bid $2.25 million for it, the sale fell through when the funds for the buyout couldn’t be raised in time.  A second auction, scheduled for December 14, attracted no bids, and while the receiver has attempted to gain approval for a $1.6 million sale of the firm’s assets to Liquid Asset Partners LLC, a third auction attempt has now been scheduled for 13th January.

Despite failing to raise the funds last time around, Atlantic Metals boss Bruce Belfer is still understood to be interested in the company, and other firms are also understood to be interested in buying EBR’s remaining assets.

It’s worth bearing in mind that the design consulting arm of EBR was sold separately for $2.8 million to the firm’s former business partners Hero Moto-Corp in India.
