Big motorcycles with big engines, big tanks, plenty of space and plenty of equipment. For the BMW S 1000 XR, Ducati Multistrada 1200, Kawasaki Versys 1000, KTM 1290 Super Adventure models within the “Adventure Big” category, lack is foreign concept – here there is plenty of substance with which to produce real winners.
Title contenders are competing here. BMW S 1000 XR, Ducati Multistrada 1200, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and KTM 1290 Super Adventure are all hot candidates for the Alps Masters 2015 crown, yet bring with them what it is that makes driving in the mountains charming and relaxed: sublime thrust resulting from ample engine capacity, a stable chassis, plenty of space for two plus luggage and the complete range of equipment.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure wants to build on the success of the 1190 Adventure last year, and therefore the Ducati Multistrada 1200 and BMW S 1000 XR are battling it out between them for the title of “Best 17-inch long-forked sports bike above 150 HP”. Here standard-bearers and draught horses battle for image and prestige.
