First glimpse of next year’s colours

There’s nothing new to see yet in the 2017 Yamaha range but what’s been revealed so far hints at more exciting things that are on the way.

The firm has revealed the colour options for the unchanged models in its line-up. These include the R1 and R1M, R125, Tracer 900, MT-07, MT-125, Super Tenere, XV950R, XSR900 and XSR700. The full 2017 colours are listed below.

But it’s the models that aren’t included in the list that are more interesting. The lack of an R6 confirms that the old version is out – its lack of Euro4 emissions and ABS would kill it in 2017 anyway. A new one is expected to be shown next week.

And what of the MT-09? One of Yamaha’s best-sellers, it’s not listed here, suggesting it’s in line for some technical updates for 2017. The same applies to the R3, which again is missing from this list. It’s sure to remain in production, but perhaps some modifications are coming. The MT-10 is also absent, suggesting it could be tweaked, as is the Tracer 700.

We already know that the XJR1300 is due to be discontinued in 2017, but we’re also not seeing the base XV950 or the XV950 Racer here. And the legendary, but ageing, V-Max is also nowhere to be seen – will it be revised or replaced, or could that model become one of Euro4’s more famous victims?

Another older design that’s not listed is the FJR1300, although it’s recently been updated.

Next week’s Intermot show will bring more news about these bikes and their potential improvements or replacements. In the meantime, here’s the 2017 range so far.
