A Honda CB450 once owned by Steve McQueen is among the star lots at this weekend’s Hollywood Legends auction in Los Angeles.
Hosted by Julien’s Auctions, the event is aimed at fans of celebrity and Hollywood memorabilia and includes three motorcycles.
Of them, the 1972 CB450 that belonged to Steve McQueen is the big hitter. Estimated to take between $50,000 and $70,000, it will surely be the most expensive CB450 ever sold! The bike was given to McQueen’s Solar Productions film company in August 1972 by Honda Motor Co. At the time, McQueen featured in Honda commercials.
Looking slightly tatty, but original, the bike carry’s a ‘McQueen’ vanity plate and has done 19,417.5 miles according to its odometer.
Far more attainable is a piece of silver screen memorabilia in the form of a Yamaha YZ450F used in the movie Point Break. Sadly we’re not talking about the original Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze version but the 2015 remake. Even so, at an estimated $6000-$8000, the 2015-model bike isn’t expected to cost much more than a normal one.
Finally we’ve got a chopper that comes from the collection of Easy Rider star, the late Dennis Hopper. No, we’re not talking about the ‘Billy’ bike from that movie. If it was ever to surface, it would surely be a million-dollar machine. Instead this is a Johnny Pag ‘Pagsta’ chopper from 2003, powered by a tiny 50cc single. Even though it was used as decoration rather than ridden by Hopper – the odometer only reads 1.8 miles – the bike is expected to earn $8000-$10,000.
