It’s been years since we’ve been able to buy the Kawasaki ZRX1200 here in Europe but the classic muscle bike remains available in Japan to this day. That won’t be the case for much longer.
Kawasaki has revealed this ‘Final Edition’ version of the ZRX1200 DAEG, which goes on sale in September, marking the end of the bike’s endlessly-long production.
You’d have to be something of a ZRX fanatic to spot the changes. Of course, the Final Edition gets Lawson-rep paintwork in the classic Kawasaki green with white and blue stripes. It also has logos to mark its limited-edition status. But you’d need to look closely to spot the 5mm lower seat height, the black painted cam covers, the special logo on the engine side covers and the gold-painted calipers.
As with every ZRX for the last few years, the bike will only be offered in Japan. However, its passing comes in preparation for a new model that will fill its shoes. Called the Z900RS, the new retro-styled Kawasaki is expected to be offered worldwide, and likely to use an engine derived from the Z800’s. Like the ZRX, it will pay homage to the original ‘Z’ range that defined the idea of a superbike in the 1970s.
Recently-leaked documents have revealed not only the new Z900RS’s name – it’s been trademarked in several markets including Europe – but also its internal code, ZR900B. Expect to see some official information and pictures of the bike before the end of this year.
Thanks for the info people.
