Cardo has rolled out a free over-the-air software upgrade called Mesh Boost, widening the scope of its Dynamic Mesh Communication system. The update promises larger group chats, simpler setup, and a redesigned mobile experience for riders using supported second-generation PACKTALK devices.
What Mesh Boost changes for group rides
At the heart of the update is a jump in group capacity: DMC groups can now include up to 31 riders, up from the previous 15-rider limit. Cardo says the mesh remains self-healing and self-adjusting, so connections reconfigure automatically as participants move in and out of range.

Another addition, called Public Mesh, lets nearby DMC users communicate instantly without creating private groups, sending invites, or assigning leaders. Users can enable the feature from the Cardo Connect app to connect with riders nearby as if they were speaking to the person next to them.
Planning rides ahead with Remote Grouping
Remote Grouping lets organizers create groups before a ride and distribute access via a link or QR code from the Cardo Connect app. When members come into range, devices join the mesh automatically, which is intended to simplify meetups where participants start from different locations.

The company recommends installing the update at home, before heading out, so firmware installs finish prior to the ride.
App refresh and usability improvements
The Cardo Connect app receives a visual overhaul and workflow changes to support Mesh Boost features. The upgraded interface adds a dedicated group list, streamlined invitation flows, and simplified controls for creating and managing conversations.
Compatibility and limitations
Mesh Boost is available as a free OTA expansion for supported second-generation DMC units, including models in the PACKTALK family such as PACKTALK PRO, PACKTALK EDGE, and PACKTALK NEO. Updated second-generation devices remain compatible with older DMC units, but the new Mesh Boost features are only available among updated second-generation units.
Cardo traces its mesh technology back to its first Bluetooth intercom headset in 2004 and the introduction of DMC in 2015, and it first offered over-the-air updates for its latest devices in 2021.
