Street Scrambler 1Scramblers might be all the rage now but Triumph has been in that market for years with its Bonneville-based version. Now it’s revealed the all-new water-cooled Street Scrambler based on the latest generation of Bonnie.

As the name suggests, it’s based around the smaller, 900cc version of the parallel twin engine, as used in the Street Cup and Street Twin as well as the new Bonneville T100. Although performance details haven’t been revealed, power is likely to be close to the 54bhp of the other models with that engine.

Street Scrambler 4While the chassis looks similar to the other models in the range, Triumph claims it’s a dedicated design for the Street Scrambler. Whether that means it actually has different metal work or simply a revised set-up isn’t yet clear, but the latter is likely. The rear shocks are certainly longer, raising ground clearance, although suspension travel remains 120mm at both front and rear – the same as the Street Twin and Street Cup.

The 41mm KYB forks look much like those on the other models, and the single front disc is identical to the rest of the Street Twin range. Changes include the wire wheels – 19 inches at the front – and Metzeler Tourance tyres.

Street Scrambler 2In terms of styling, the bike gets a new seat made of Alcantara-style material, a removable pillion pad and removable pillion pegs. It also has adventure-style footpegs and an aluminium rear rack that can be fitted in place of the passenger pad. The high-level exhaust is, of course, new and gives the usual Scrambler look. There’s also an aluminium bash plate and new side panels with a number board on the left hand side. The new bars are wider than those used on other bikes in the range. The additional ground clearance means the seat height rises to 792mm compared to 780mm on the Cup model and 750mm for the Street Twin. That’s still low for an off-road-style bike, though.

Black, matt green and a red-and-silver paint schemes will initially be offered.

Tech includes the same stuff as the rest of the range, with ABS, ride by wire throttle and traction control as standard. An A2-licence-legal version will also be offered along with a massive range of more than 150 optional accessories.
