Minor tweaks and new colours across the range

The first batch of 2018 BMW machines has been unwrapped today on the opening of the firm’s Motorrad Days event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

We’ll have to wait a little longer for the big new model reveals, which will happen as usual at shows later in the year. But there are still plenty of updates to mention.

Here’s a model-by-model run-down of the changes:

 

2018 BMW R1200 models

2018 BMWR 1200 GS:

Not much new, but the options list now includes emergency call, BMW’s new ‘Connectivity’ and LED auxiliary headlights.

 

2018 BMWR 1200 GS Adventure:

The Adventure gets the same extra optional parts as the GS but also gains new ‘Dynamic Pro’ and ‘Enduro Pro’ riding modes. The optional Dynamic ESA is updated to next-generation level with automatic damping adjustment and self-levelling, while the Touring Package option now has keyless ride.

The Dynamic package gains Shift Assistant Pro allowing clutchless up and down shifts.

Other new options include a high ‘Rallye’ seat. Colours for 2018 include a new Racing red with black frame and silver fuel tank. The ‘Style Rallye’ gets a new white-and-blue colour scheme. ‘Style Exclusive’ gets a new black and slate grey option.

 

2018 BMWR 1200 RT:

Technical changes to the 2018 R 1200 RT include the addition of cornering ABS (ABS Pro) and BMW’s dynamic brake light. New options include Emergency Call and Dynamic Traction Control. New colours include Mars red metallic/dark slate metallic matt.

 

2018 BMWR 1200 R

‘Style Exclusive’ has a new ‘Iced chocolate metallic’ colour.

 

 

2018 BMWR 1200 RS

A new ‘Blackstorm metallic’ paint option is added, while Style Exclusive has a new ‘frozen bronze metallic/blackstorm metallic’ scheme.

 

2018 BMW S 1000 models

2018 BMWS 1000 XR

‘Style HP’ gives a new white/blue/red ‘HP’ colour scheme and a ‘Pro’ seat with a stitched XR logo.

 

S 1000 RR

There’s a new optional titanium Akrapovic exhaust (full system) available from October.

 

2018 BMW scooters

2018 BMW C 650 Sport

Yellow replaces the existing orange colour option.

 

C 650 GT

Blue replaces bronze.

 

2018 BMW K 1600 models

2018 BMWK 1600 GT, K1600 GTL and K 1600 B

New LED headlights are added to the options list, along with a range of ‘BMW Motorrad Spezial’ parts for the GT and GTL.

 

2018 BMW F-series models

F 700 GS

Blue/white replaces red in the colour options

 

F 800 GS

Blue/white replaces metallic grey

 

F 800 GS Adventure

Blue/white replaces metallic grey
